The District “Textbook Rental Fund” has been established with the SMCCCD Foundation. Money donated to this fund will enable the Bookstores to purchase a supply of qualifying textbooks that will be added to the Bookstores’ rental library. The ability to rent a textbook provides a significant savings to our students. For instance, a textbook that sells for $100.00 can be rented by a student for the duration of the semester for just $25.00! We have been successfully renting textbooks at Canada College Bookstore and Skyline College Bookstore for two years now. The current program is largely funded by state grants. With the establishment of the Textbook Rental Fund, the District Foundation and I will be actively pursuing donations so that we can extend this program to all of the colleges. Donations to this fund are tax deductible and 100% of the money raised will go to the provision of textbooks for the rental program.
 
If you are interested in supporting this very worthy, innovative program, or you know of donors that would be interested please contact Georgi LaBerge or Karen Pinkham at the District Foundation. One time donations can be made directly to the Foundation or you may choose to donate via payroll deduction. If so, please use the attached form. You may specify which college you would like to suport directly on the form.
