Faculty Desk Copies

Most publishers will send instructors a desk copy of the book that has been adopted or being considered for a course. Desk copies can be obtained by notifying the publisher directly or their local sales representative. A list of local representatives of many publishers and their contact information is available at the Bookstore, on the Publishers Contact page, or the Faculty Center Network site. Please contact the Bookstore's Textbook Department for contact information of publishers not listed.

To ensure that the desk copy arrives in a timely manner, faculty members should notify the publisher and/or their sales representatives of the need for a desk copy at the same time their book order for the upcoming term is submitted to the Bookstore or their Dean.

In the event that the desk copy has not arrived before the beginning of instruction, it is suggested that the professor purchase a copy of the book or ask their division to purchase a copy of the book from the bookstore. The amount paid will be refunded to the professor or division when the replacement copy with the original cash register receipt is returned to the Bookstore before the end of the semester. Please note that the credit card used for purchase must be present.

Please Note:
The publisher should be instructed to send a new, complete and unmarked copy of the exact ISBN of the book/package purchased; otherwise the book will not be able to refund your desk copy purchase. If you intend to open or write-in the copy purchased from the Bookstore, please notify the publisher that the desk copy needs to be the student edition of the title purchased.

Publishers will not send desk copies to the Bookstore, nor will they accept requests from the Bookstore for desk copies. No refunds will be given for books not being used in the current semester.

Please be sure to obtain your desk copy from the publisher before the semester ends.

Students fraudulently obtaining instructor desk copies from publishers will be disciplined.
